And in a word scramble game, all the guests can participate at once. In the rice bowl game mentioned above, while one person is trying to find the safety pins, the other 15, 20 or 30 guests are waiting and doing nothing.

Forty one states so far have adopted the Common Core State Standards for English, which does not require students to learn cursive. Some states have since returned cursive to their curriculum. The argument against cursive handwriting is that it is time-consuming and not nearly as beneficial as learning keyboarding skills that students will need while moving on to high school. Let us look into the importance of cursive a little further. Cursive handwriting is viewed by some educators and parents alike as an essential part of education. Young children and teens today are using technologies not available to generations past. Many parents feel that learning cursive is improving their children has fine motor skills and science is backing up that theory.
Try to supplement each worksheet with a real-life activity. For example after a worksheet on counting, you can ask the child to pick out 3 biscuits and 2 carrots from many. Remember, a child is learning many new things at once. A child of this age has an amazing capacity to learn many new things fast. He can also forget them equally fast. Doing many interesting worksheets with cartoons etc would be fun for him and would help continually reinforce what is learnt. Give positive feedback and encourage a child. His finer motor skills are just developing. Do not expect or try for perfection. Do not give any writing exercise too early i.e until he is fully comfortable with holding a pencil. Spend sufficient time and continually reinforce the learning in day-to-day situations. Most importantly, it should be fun for the teacher and the taught!
